Final project on perspective drawing and portrait

Finally the last piece of perspective drawing. We were asked to draw any environment or object in 1, 2 and 3 point perspective. So I decided to come out with my own design on an environment. Here it is, the floating city. They are one 1, 2 and 3 point perspective respectively. At first, I thought of drawing it with a waterfall, but after KY came over and said "Wow! The city looks nice in the trees..."......................... and I said "thanks." I took out another piece of paper and did what I do best, REDO!!! Argh... my waterfall looks like a tree trunk :( Anyway, I have no choice but to draw it above in the sky with some clouds and birds.... sigh... Oh, the good thing about this drawing is I came out with my own design (although it could have been designed by someone else). The bad thing is there is not much details in these design... well..if only I have more time.

At last!! This last portrait is the best among all my previous work... maybe I'm drawing my dream girl (Zhong Xin Yi) Hee hee. There is still a lot to improve on the shading of the arm but it is definitely better than the very first one that I did... still remember the one(earlier post) that I drew before I joined 3dsense? Yes, its the same girl.. very different right? haha.

Portraits and tail animation

First of all, I would like to apologize to June if you are reading this post... I really did not do a good job... although it looks like June but the accuracy is really off...I'm sorry.. although the reason is because I'm rushing for my assignments and I only spent 8 hours on the portrait... I will not take it as an excuse for not doing well.. I will make sure it will be better the next time....

As for the other portrait, I'm not sure who that girl is but the mouth is off as well.. sigh.. gotta slap myself for doing so poorly after so many practices.....

The animation is to animate a tail (should be from a squirrel). It took me 1 entire day to complete this animation!!! It is really testing my patience... I cannot really take it if I spend the whole day just to finish a simple 11 sec animation and I can't imagine working for 1 month just to complete 15 sec of animation in the CG industry..... I think I'll take modeling as my specialization...

Ball animation & portrait

These are my 5th and 6th portraits. It was the first time that I tried a different method of shading, drawing half body and with back ground.... the first portrait gave me a mixed feeling... I find that the shading is a little better (in terms of shading compared to the previous drawings) but the accuracy makes me laugh... look at her face! It seems like she got punched on her left jaw and right eye. The 6th drawing (Audrey Humphrey) is consider one of the better ones so far... I guess I get the hang of it finally....

The videos are the assignments from my basic animation class - animating balls. I have done it during Kingston's class and I consider this as a revision for myself. The 1st one is a normal bouncing ball, second one is a heavy and a light ball and finally, an obstacle course.

Feel free to leave any comment. ^_^

Storyboarding scene & portrait

The first image is to draw a scene with a tree, a dog and a man. You can create scene but the most important thing is to bring out the mood. The image shown on my pc is quite dark.. hope that you guys can see it clearly that there was a typhoon behind it.... this time its a little better but there is still a long way to go.

In addition, 3rd and 4th piece portraits are uploaded as well... this time it took me 15 and 12 hours respectively. Definitely, faster than before but no really better... I'm still trying to master the blending style of shading. The proportion of the man's (forgot what's the actor's name) face is a little off... need to take note of this... oh, shading the hair is also something that I need to work on....

Story board & portrait

Above were the storyboard I drew for a burger tv commercial. Well....I don't really like it, as sacha (my lecturer) said, the angle is too high and I could have include more acting such as some surprised expression when the 'burgerman' broke into the house. I can also make it more dynamic, maybe the way buurgerman present the burger or I can have lower angle to show different perspectives.
Above are my 1st and 2nd portrait done in 3dsense. It took my 20hrs to get the lady done!... Yes 20 hrs... and I felt exhuasted after the 1st one.. now when I look at it, I feel that the proportion is out and the shading is very..... cartoonie?

The second one is the ... sigh... I don't really like to draw man and his hair is extremely tedious!!! I was stucked drawing his hair for almost 5 hrs... glad that I can still submit in time.. This time I took about 18 hours.. a little faster.... I need to speed up! By the way, do you think that he looks like Chow Yun Fat when he gets old? hahaha

Lifted story board & colour study 2

hmmm.. how long do you need to browse through all the images above? maybe 5 mins... and it took me entire 2 days to finish it! Some of classmates' pinky hurts after drawing this.... it is really tough to be a storyboard artist... maybe I am not that fast in drawing thats why it took me so long...... hope I can improve my speed in the future... oh forgot to mention... the above storyboard is based on the animation "Lifted" created by PIXAR. 4 mins of animation... 100++ panels... 2 days of drawing.. oh man.. this is tiring...

Guess that the image is a little too dark but anyway.. this is my second colour study on a fairy tale "3 little pig" and it looks... horrible!!! yucks!!! I have no idea why I have this colour combination... maybe I do not have enough time.. but to me this is just an excuse, not a reason... have to try real hard to improve..

Portrait and Shadows

The 1st 3 are the drawings on how to draw shadows during different time of the day. The 1st one is 7am followed by 10amd and 12am... If you think it is simple... yeah... maybe with this simple tap but if you are drawing complicated shapes such as trees or maybe a helicopter, it will not be as easy... of course this applies only to beginners or student like myself.. hee hee...

The portrait is the one I just drew before I joined 3dsense... it looks horrible right? I know nothing about looking things as shapes or using the grid method.. it took me 3 days to draw this portrait.. and it does not look like her at all... hope she don't get angry if she sees it (I don't think she will even bother to look at my blog anyway haha)... I will draw her again when get better!! I will be posting more portraits... stay tuned. ^_^

3 point perspective and colour study

Here comes the 3 point perspective drawing. We have to draw simple shapes on the 3 point perspective so I came out with "REDO IS MY LIFE" after I was given the nick of "Redo King... sigh.. but anyway we need to draw a corner store in 3point perspective and we could either draw it indoor or outdoor. So I came out with an indoor drawing. I was a baby in the pram looking at my mum paying at the counter. It does not really look good overall, but at least now I get the feel of drawing with "foreground, midground and background".

The last drawing was my 1st colour study (my weakest). When I look and my design and colour of the super cat.... I just feel like redoing again.. but I did not have much time left.. so I just submit it... really need to spend more time on colours.

Perspective and shadows

The 1st drawing is the one I hate most so far. Guess what... I redo it 5 times!!!! and it took me 10 hrs!!!!! And that's how I get the nick name "Redo King" in my class. Why I redo so many times? Its a long story but in short, it was either missing something or I drew it too big that I can't fit it in an A3 paper. The worst thing was the drawing is sooo ugly when I finished it! Argh!!

The 2nd and 3rd drawing were about shadows. hmm...Nothing really special about it.

The last one is to design a cannibal village. Although this is the 1st drawing that I feel acceptable but there are still many things to improve. There is no shadow, and it looks like a 'normal' cannibal village. I need to be more creative and add in something which is believable but it is not seen in any stereotyped cannibal village. Maybe I can draw it on a mountain cliff or waterfall.
